Baroque concert. Concierto barroco.

On December 2012, I attended a baroque concert with Maestro Rubén Riera and two ladies, virtuosos of the cello, mandolin and other very interesting instruments whose names I can’t remember now (sorry for that; I was too caught up by the music).). I did some research, though, and I think the elongated guitar is called archlute.

El diciembre de 2012 fui a un concierto barroco en @losgalpones, interpretado por el maestro Rubén Riera y dos damas talentosas del cello, la mandolina y otros instrumentos interesantes cuyos nombres ahora no recuerdo (discúlpenme esa, pero estaba sumergido en la música). Investigando, creo que la guitarra alargada se llama archilaúd barroco. Sus comentarios son bienvenidos.

Words from a Master. Palabras de un Maestro.

"Todos poseemos un Alma superior. De momento, no sois quizás conscientes de su existencia en vosotros, pero si pensáis en ella, si intentáis entrar en contacto con ella, la sentiréis paulatinamente acercarse a vosotros para ayudaros, para sosteneros. Cruz-Diez en Blanco y Negro. This is an exceptional and unprecedented show featuring a previously unseen facet of the artist: his photographic work between 1942 and 1986. Just went to see it yesterday, to admire the work of this great artist. I took a few pictures:

Classical music and rock played in a new way - Una nueva forma de tocar música clásica y rock

Sibelius is a Venezuelan musical project I have been following for some time now. Philipp Scheer is the founder and lead guitar man. He always surrounds himself with other talented musicians in order to play masterful pieces that blend classical music and rock in a whole new way. He also came up with the idea of the Sibelius Fest, an electric guitar contest that started in Venezuela and is now spreading fast to other countries. You don’t see a Tribute to Yngwie Malmsteen poster in your city every day. So when I saw this poster a couple of years ago, I said to myself: “hey, why don’t give it a try and see what this Sibelius band is all about. Who can play Malmsteen, anyway?” Boy, I was in for a great surprise! Philipp just picked the right guys for this gig and they played wonderfully from the very beginning. With great guitars, great vocals and a positive vibe, they put up an unforgettable show. From that moment on, I was captured by Sibelius’ concept. I’ve seen them play with a youth chamber orchestra and other invited virtuosos and it is always a joy to see talent like this on stage. Here are a few pictures of them playing live on September 1^st, 2012. For this occasion, they even played “Wasted Years” (Eddie included) one of my favorites songs from Iron Maiden. Enjoy.

Sibelius es un proyecto musical venezolano al que le he venido siguiendo la pista por un tiempo. Philipp Scheer es su fundador y guitarrista principal. Siempre sabe rodearse de otros músicos talentosos con la idea de interpretar obras maestras que mezclan la música clásica con el rock de una manera totalmente nueva y fresca. A Philipp también se le ocurrió la idea de crear el Sibelius Fest, un concurso de guitarra eléctrica que comenzó en Venezuela y ya se expande rápidamente a otros países. Uno no ve en su ciudad un afiche que diga “Tributo a Yngwie Malmsteen” todos los días. Asi que cuando vi este poster hace un par de años atrás, pensé: “¿Por qué no ir a escucharlos y ver de qué se trata Sibelius? Igual, ¿Quién puede tocar como Yngwie?”. ¡Pues tremenda sorpresa me llevé! Philipp seleccionó a los mejores para este toque y lo hicieron de maravilla desde el comienzo. Con grandes guitarras, grandes vocalizaciones y una vibra positiva, montaron un show inolvidable. Desde ese momento, quedé cautivado por el concepto de Sibelius. Los he visto tocar con una orquesta de cámara juvenil y otros virtuosos invitados, y siempre da una gran alegría ver estos talentos en escena. Aquí les dejo algunas fotos de Sibelius tocando en vivo el 1ro de septiembre de 2012. En esta ocasión, hasta tocaron “Wasted Years” (con Eddie incluido), una de mis canciones favoritas de Iron Maiden. Disfruten.

Mystic images... Imágenes místicas

While wandering through mystic locations, I have found that every temple is steeped in its own mysteries and particular energies. This is a series of photographs of temples, the Holy Virgin and other images taken during these walks through mysticism. 

Recorriendo rincones místicos, he descubierto que cada templo encierra sus propios misterios, sus energías particulares. Aquí les muestro una serie de fotografías de algunos templos, de la Virgen María y otras imágenes capturadas durante estos recorridos por el misticismo. 

On Margarita Island, Venezuela, devotees place figurines of saints perched on the bends of high tree branches, or around the church, as a token of gratitude or as a promise. 

 En la Isla de Margarita, en Venezuela, los devotos colocan figuras de santos en las ramas más altas de los árboles y alrededor de la iglesia, como señal de gratitud o para pagar una promesa.

This is a picture of a statue of the Holy Virgin inside an acrylic box. I didn't want to use flash and got this underexposed image that I would have otherwise discarded, but the reflection on the acrylic looks like a ray of light pouring out from her right hand, so I kept it.

En esta foto, se ve una efigie de la Virgen María dentro de una caja de acrílico. Tomé esta foto sin flash y salió subexpuesta, por lo que la habría descartado, a no ser por el reflejo en el acrílico, que parece como un rayo de luz saliendo de su mano derecha.
